Research 1 company and describe how they protect their company from internet risks.

All company's wants to protect their own company from internet risk like hacking because if their company will not protected it can damage their business or it can give risk to their business.

In ASIALINK FINANCE CORPORATION they have their own security measures. Because AFC conduct transaction online they have their own security measures or firewall that only their company knows. Also they have their own connection that is not open in the public, only their company or their branches knows. Also all employee has its own password upon entering or upon accessing that website because it is condusive of the AFC employee. Also they can have only their username and password to their work related only because every department have different site so employee assigned in treasury has no access to the site of the marketing dept.

The possible risk or danger is the internet hacking, the hacking of their password of their security system. If their system is hacked their is a big possiblity that their competitor use it against their company.

Blog Question # 6

Sony Corporation is a multinational conglomerate corporation headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and one of the world's largest media conglomerates with revenue of US$88.7 billion (as of 2008) based in Minato, Tokyo.
Sony is one of the leading manufacturers of electronics, video, communications, video game consoles and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets. Its name is derived from Sonus, the Greek goddess of sound.Sony Corporation is the electronics business unit and the parent company of the Sony Group, which is engaged in business through its five operating segments—electronics, games, entertainment (motion pictures and music), financial services and other. These make Sony one of the most comprehensive entertainment companies in the world. Sony's principal business operations include Sony Corporation (Sony Electronics in the U.S.), Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Sony Ericsson and Sony Financial Holdings. As a semiconductor maker, Sony is among the Worldwide Top 20 Semiconductor Sales Leaders. The company's slogan is Sony.In July 2000, a marketing executive working for Sony Corporation created a fictitious film critic, David Manning, who gave consistently good reviews for releases from Sony subsidiary Columbia Pictures, which generally received poor reviews amongst real critics. In November 2006, a marketing company employed by Sony created a website entitled "All I want for Xmas is a PSP", designed to promote the PSP through viral marketing. The site contained a blog, which was purportedly written by "Charlie", a teenager attempting to get his friend "Jeremy"'s parents to buy him a PSP, providing links to t-shirt iron-ons, Christmas cards, and a "music video" of either Charlie or Jeremy "rapping". However, visitors to the website soon discovered that the website was registered to a marketing company, exposing the site on sites such as YouTube and digg, and Sony was forced to admit the site's true origin in a post on the blog, stating that they would from then on "stick to making cool products" and that they would use the website for "the facts on the PSP". The site has since been taken down. In an interview with next-gen.biz, Sony admitted that the idea was "poorly executed"Sony's policies address their effects on global warming, the environment, and resources. They are taking steps to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that they put out as well as regulating the products they get from their suppliers in a process that they call "green procurement" [56]. Sony has said that they have signed on to have about 75 percent of their Sony Building running on geothermal power. The "Sony Take Back Recycling Program" allows consumers to recycle the electronics products that they buy from Sony by taking them to eCycle (Recycling) drop-off points around the U.S. The company has also developed a biobattery that runs on sugars and carbohydrates that works similarly to the way living creatures work. This is the most powerful small biobattery to dateIn 2000, Sony was ridiculed for a document entitled "NGO Strategy" that was leaked to the press. This document involved the company's surveillance of environmental activists in an attempt to plan how to counter their movements. This document specifically mentioned environmental groups that were trying to pass laws that held electronics-producing companies responsible for the clean up of the toxic chemicals contained in their merchandise [61]. In early July of 2007, Sony ranked 14th on the Greenpeace chart "Guide to Greener Electronics." This chart graded major electronics companies on their environmental work. Sony fell from its earlier 11th place ranking due to Greenpeace's claims that Sony had double standards in their waste policies

As a future manager, What is your computer ethics program? Justify each activity.

My Computer Ethics Program

1. Use computer in legal action

Computers provide us with new capabilities and these in turn give us new choice of action but the computer user must open only the information needed for their field of work and not using the information The user of the computer must open only their access in their field of work and they should not open the access of information not intended for them.

2. The uses of the company's computer is only for the company's transaction or work

It is not new to us that computer has many uses and one of it is a games. And using computer in having games can destruct the work of an employees.
3. Use company's computer like your personal computer.
In using the company's computer, treat it as your personal computer like hadling it with care and in proper manner.
4. Using computer as a tool in easier communication.
In now a days using computer in communicating others is very important. It can access all over the world unlike if you call using telephone or mobile phone you spend much in just an hour. In computer it only required internet access then everything follows.
5. Using computer as a means of marketing company's products.
In today's trends we are now very aware of web marketing. And using computer in selling product through web or informing the public about the product its advantages and other information is the very big help of the company's business.

If you are just a student of RMMC and not currently working, cite a manual procedure here in our school which you prefer to computerize.

As a student of RMMC I experience the hardship in looking for the book and it so happen that the book I'm looking is not available because it already borrowed by one of the student and there are only one copy or two copies of the said book. Because of that, I asked one of the staff of the library where to find the said book, only they said I can find it in the circulation but nothing was there because it is already borrowed.

For that reason I want the library staff use computer in inventorying their books so that they know if the book were already available or not. They have to encode all the books in the library, its informations like author, title and even subject if possible so that they have the control were the books is and also the one who borrowed the said book. The advantage of this is they can have the proper inventory, where they can find the books if it is lost because they have the information of the person who borrowed the book. And also it can make their work in the library easier than without computer.

And also, as a student it is a burden to find the book which is not available. If they use computer, you give them the title of the book and they just say if it is available and give you the information where you can find it or they just say it is already borrowed by a student.

WIth MIS trends, justify and contradict the statements. Cite examples whenever needed.

1) Mis users are more knowledgeable

  • Yes MIS users are more knowledgeable than those who are not because it really not necessary that you gather all information because it serves as irrelevant information if you get confused on how to use it.
2) More sources is available to the users
  • If you are MIS user you can have many sources of information that makes you more knowledgeable and you can really use it especially in business making decision.
3) Resistance to the implementation of emerging MIS subsiding.

  • Yes, because it is play a vital role in the company especially in company's that has many branches. They can communicate easily if they have some changes in their company's rules to be implemented.
4) Connectivity

  • We can easily connect or shall we say communicate because by means of MIS we can connect easily. The best example is in the Asialink they can connect easily to their head office by means of YM or send a file via yahoo messenger.
5) Mis is becoming one of the primary of increasing productivity
  • The best example of this is the Asialink because they use MIS also in transferring the data or the requirements of the barrower to their head office for approval, it increases their productivity because it is easier for them to process unlike the past years that they have to transfer the papers through LBC that takes one day to delver.
6) Companies are using MIS as a competitive strategy

  • As of now company uses MIS as their edge over other company because if you are behind in using high technology you are also behind by your competitor because using MIS makes your company more faster especially in processing and decision making.
7) Mis is becoming integral to the decision making process.
  • MIS help in decision making process because it gives accurate information at the right time.
8) The end user is becoming the focus of MIS activity.
  • Once you are more knowledgeable in MIS you can have an extra income through it not just by being a tutor to the one who need but also in the internet like for example in blogging and in auction.com.
